At Church Knowle Rural Learning we offer a Quality Alternative Strengths-Based Approach to education for children and teenagers aged 7 to 16 years old. Rooted in the beauty of the Dorset countryside, our rural open air learning environment provides a hands-on, nature-based curriculum that nurtures personal growth, confidence, and practical skills.
By incorporating elements of the National Curriculum within students’ activities, the learning process is enhanced as are educational outcomes. With small student numbers and a supportive community, children explore subjects through real-world experiences—whether it’s growing vegetables, caring for animals or working on outdoor projects. We work alongside schools to help reengage children to enable and empower them to return to mainstream education wherever possible.
With our specially trained Team we are also able to cater for specific medical conditions alongside our students’ other needs.
Ideal for young people seeking a more personalised, engaging path to education, Church Knowle Rural Learning helps students reconnect with a love of learning in a way that inspires creativity and resilience within the beautiful Purbeck Countryside.
We are currently providing alternative provision for Dorset Council via Ad Hoc placements and are on their list of Approved APs through their Supporting jProgress and Inclusion Framework. We are also part of BCP’s Alternative Provision Framework.
Mentoring Service
Coming soon, we are aiming to work with students at home, in the community and at our CKRL site to gently reengage them with the learning process. We will help give them confidence and the necessary skills, working up to returning to their own school or progress to another setting.
‘Ground Up Learning, Not Ground Down By Learning’
‘CKRL has provided our son with a much needed child-focused base where he feels accepted and can explore in safe hands.‘
‘A sense of felt safety is created by staff who are kind and accepting, without judgment, who value his ideas and interests to boost his self esteem and self worth.’
We are excited to be accepting applications for upcoming sessions! We look forward to hearing from you!
